IDENTIFICATION OF PROBLEMS FACED BY BUDDHIST EDUCATION TEACHERS IN THE LEARNING PROCESS IN SEMARANG REGENCY JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Abstrak

This study aims to identify the problems faced by Buddhist education teachers in the learning process in Semarang District Junior High School, and their impacts. This type of research is a qualitative study with a case study approach. The data collection techniques used are interview, observation, and documentation study. The validity test of the data is done by triangulation, member check, and persistent observation. The data analysis technique uses the Miles & Huberman model which consists of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion and verification.The results of the study show that the problems faced by Buddhist education teachers in learning can be identified as follows; (1) the small number of Buddhist students and their passive attitude; (2) health problems, family, and low students’ interest in school; (3) unavailability of special learning spaces; (4) limited infrastructure; (5) uneven droping of student and teacher’s handbooks; (6) lack of teacher’s understanding of students’ character; (7) indiscipline in teaching and making learning implementation plans; (8) the evaluation of students’ learning outcomes is not carried out intensively; (9) the additional tasks at school; (10) lack of moral support from the school environment; (11) insufficient supervisors and organizers of Buddhist education; and (12) revised curriculum and recurring material in the same year. In general, the impact of these problems is the insufficient achievement of Buddhist education learning objectives and students’ learning outcomes.
